Finally got down to making this post since I am now done with exams YAY.
Watched the highly rated and recommended drama King 2Hearts at the beginning of study break (yup) and I must say, it did live up to expectations. It is a production more than your everyday drama, good plot, good cast, nothing much to pick about. Although I am not a fan of Lee Seunggi's excessive (in my opinion) cheesiness in the show, I'm sure many other people are (ahem, @eunphoric) and would be. Good acting and good chemistry with your female lead definitely makes up for it. Lee Seunggi and Ha Ji Won are naturals, but really, in this cast, who isn't? The scenes where he played mind games with the villain aka the lunatic John Mayer had me clinging onto the tail of every episode and deserve many rounds of applause. Details like how John Mayer's isolated mansion had an entire maze of waterworks in the basement, and the barcode tattoo on his subordinate Bong Bong's neck were just one of the many things that fascinated me in the drama. Though I must say that the Bong Bong woman (who looks french but is probably american) scared the hell out of me. The irony of her name and her appearance and nature.
I have a low tolerance for horror, don't judge.
What I do love, is the second main couple (image) - the Princess and the Palace Guard - that never really ended up together. The only time I cried while watching the drama was because of Eun Shikyung; Writer-nim!! ㅠ____ㅠ His character was supposed to be exactly the reason why I have never liked 2nd male leads of dramas, because they always lacked balls, for the lack of a better expression, but I don't know he just got to me somehow with the perpetual frown on his face and his 답답해 and genuine character ㅠㅠ
And of course, a good drama will not be complete without a good soundtrack. While I have a love-hate relationship with Taeyeon (the reason why I got into kpop years back) she will always be my goddess. ㅠㅠ I can't escape it. ㅠㅠ which reminds me the first song that made me fall for her was also an ost track. Queen of OST ♡ I've been listening to this song since it came out, way before I've watched the drama. I sing this at karaoke, I listen to it on repeat, I've recorded a cover (that you will never hear) of it - this is how much this song means to me. ps. this is a live performance.

You know it's a good drama when you feel that it's hard to say goodbye.
One more episode left tomorrow, but pretty much sure it will be good. This show feels a little more toned down as compared to the other flower boy dramas in the series, probably because its main character have been hiding her whole life, but it's my favourite out of the three, perhaps because I can identify and empathize with the characters. The flower boy element isn't as stark as in the other two, since this is pretty much Flower Boy Enrique VS The Sad / Dull / Quiet block across the road. Shut Up! Flower Boy Band was a little dark and a bit too violent for my liking and Ramen Shop... too comical for me to take it srsly. Can't say much because I didn't finish that one.
This plot though, is so sound that not a single thread is left un-tidied. Kudos to good writer. And this is one drama where I won't be accused of being biased to the first male lead, because he is obviously god-sent for our dear damsel in distress. I loved Kim Ji Hoon in Golden Era of Daughters in-law (quite ancient), but not here. His character is the kind that gets on my nerves. Wallowing in misery doesn't get any better just because you have someone else to do it together with you. And if there was one thing that I didn't like, it would be the cliffhangers at the end of every episode (who likes cliffhangers anyway?) which turn out to be reversals... The end of the episode shows you something negative or shocking and leaves you at the edge, but it gets predictable so you know it's a trick, but the frustration is still there.... yeah. I'm blabbering.
I adored Jang Geun Seuk together with Park Shin Hye, but Yoon Si Yoon tugs on my heartstrings.
Enrique and Go Dok Mi are going into my bag of characters that I will never forget.
